Life Happens, “Don’t Shoot the Messenger”

So often in my spiritual work I am asked to give winning lottery numbers, remove or cast spells, mend relationships, heal the sick. I have wondered who cultivates these beliefs. I have also wondered why anyone would think that a psychic or medium would be able to do these things.

I have come to believe that it is a combination of things. Many people have these things ingrained in their cultures. And, of course there are unscrupulous psychics or “fortune tellers” who feed on these erroneous beliefs and cultivate them. Many times it is impossible to convince individuals that these things are untrue. The beliefs are so deeply ingrained in their psyches. Unfortunately, many people have been defrauded by these so-called “fortune tellers”.

If psychics or mediums could perform miracles, no one would be sick, there would be no more wars, natural disasters, famine and terrorists and despots would not exist. We’d wave our psychic-medium magic wands, and it would all go away. We’d all also be extremely wealthy picking winning lottery numbers anytime.

The reality is that psychics and mediums are merely communicators. We are individuals who receive information that is “out there” in another realm of consciousness. We cannot force anyone from the Other Side to communicate by snapping our fingers. It is all about receiving and communicating what is received. We are able to use our psychic abilities to find out what is going on with a person or even an animal for that matter. But, we do not affect them or their lives in any way except for our personal interactions with them. We can communicate guidance from the Beyond and predict outcomes (good and bad). But when life happens, clients want to “shoot the messenger”, as the saying goes.

Education and creating more awareness is the key. Getting the message out about the realities of psychic or medium communication is the only way to combat these erroneous beliefs. Hopefully, beliefs can be changed so people won’t have unrealistic expectations from psychics, mediums and life in general. And more importantly, they won’t get defrauded by unscrupulous individuals.
